FAQs

How much does and New driveway cost?

Redoing a driveway includes replacement, widening, resurfacing or extending. Complete replacement tends to be the most costly as it involves breaking up the old driveway, removing the material, then installing a brand new driveway. Removing an old driveway can cost $1 to $3 per square foot, plus the average price for a new driveway.

Installing an new asphalt driveway costs approximately $3-$5 per square foot (depending on the condition and material of the original driveway)

Resurfacing a driveway is one of the least expensive projects, especially if the driveway is in good condition with no holes or cracks. Depending on the material, resurfacing can range from $2 to $4 per square foot.

What are the benefits of an Asphalt driveway?

First, an asphalt driveway is cheaper than a concrete driveway. Asphalt also handles extreme temperature changes better by expanding and contracting easily. Unlike concrete, it won't crack in freezing temperatures, and it generally holds up well to salt and snow plows — (gravel doesn't hold up to snowplows at all)

Here in New England Asphalt is the most popular, practical and affordable material to use due to temperature changes in the summer vs. the winter.

When and how long should i wait to sealcoat/re-sealcoat?

Sealing asphalt costs about 25 cents per square foot. Asphalt driveways require regular sealing to extend their life. However, you don't seal your new asphalt driveway immediately after the paver finishes the job (when dealing with water/latex base Sealer) asphalt takes about six months to harden after paving, and the oils in the asphalt need time to evaporate.

After the first coat of sealer on your new driveway or in between coats, we recommend 2-3 Years before applying another coat of sealer. This allows for the previous layer of Sealcoat to wear nicely into the pores of the asphalt in high traffic areas without creating a build up of material that will eventually crack down the road. (the quicker you add layers of sealcoat the more buildup you get causing cracks in the sealcoat)
